In case you own decent mics, the fidelity of your recordings can be further improved by using good quality cables. The extra investment will translate in a sound that has more clarity and depth. Just to give you an idea, the video hereunder demonstrates differences between guitar cables. Although the differences between mic cables are (way) smaller, every improvement in sound quality must be cherished, especially when it comes to recording important instruments such as lead vocals.
Chapter 6/ Recording Techniques
When recording with multiple microphones, it's unlikely to not run into phase problems. After adding a second mic in the mix, certain frequencies will (partly) die out instead of sound being added. How can you recognize phase problems, and how can you solve them?
